Along with his promotion to Simi Valley city manger, Mike Sedell, a 19-year city employee, will also receive a hefty raise.
While he will earn less than former City Manager Lin Koester, whose base salary was $117,400, Sedell--Koester’s former right-hand man--will have his base salary increased from $94,000 to $108,000.
Sedell, who assumed the new post Friday, also will receive a variety of fringe benefits that will bring his total salary package up to about $148,000 a year, said Laura Heron, director of the city’s general services department.
His benefit package includes health, dental and vision care, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as 36 days of paid vacation each year.
Sedell and his family, who live in Thousand Oaks, will also receive up to $5,000 in moving expenses if he relocates within the year.
Also, he will receive up to $800 a month for a car and personal allowance to cover business expenses.
Koester’s total salary package was about $187,000, Heron said.
