LA PALMA : Chamber, City Officials Work to Bring Circus Vargas to Town
City and circus are trying to come together.
The La Palma Chamber of Commerce wants to sponsor Circus Vargas in Central Park as a fund raiser for the chamber. City officials said they want to be supportive, but are worried about possible damage to park grass.
Thus the City Council, at its meeting Tuesday , asked that chamber officials and city staff members work together in trying to arrange a solution. The council unanimously voted approval for the circus to be in the park, subject to concurrence by City Manager Len Wood that a way is found to protect park grass.
“We want to make sure the park is restored to its original condition, and I think we can work with them to achieve that,” Wood told the council.
The chamber hopes to sponsor the circus Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.
