Archie H. Petre, a retired salesman and descendant of a pioneer Oxnard farming family, has died. He was 83.

Wrong information--An obituary Tuesday incorrectly reported the date of a service for Archie H. Petre of Camarillo. It will be Friday at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. The obituary also misstated his year of birth. He was born in 1911.
The Victorian-era home in which Petre grew up in Oxnard has been preserved and moved to the Heritage Square center downtown.
Petre worked for many years as a salesman for the Glaser Brothers company and was well-known to employees in the Ventura College cafeteria, where he would often drop by to leave supplies, make deals and crack jokes.
Petre was a Camarillo resident for about 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and several children and grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the James A. Reardon Mortuary in Oxnard. Services are scheduled Saturday.
