A man convicted of beating his 3-month-old daughter to death was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in prison in what Superior Court Judge Mary Ann Murphy called one of the most gruesome cases to ever come before her.
Anthony Bullock, 21, was convicted Dec. 20 of second-degree murder for killing his daughter, Shantez.
Prosecutors argued that the child died of severe head injuries after Bullock grabbed her by the legs and slammed her against a wall on Oct. 30, 1993. Bullock claimed that Shantez was killed by gang members in retaliation for his testimony in a murder case.
During the trial, a deputy medical examiner described the baby’s death as a “classic case of battered child syndrome.”
