ANAHEIM : Youth Meal Program Starts Its Fifth Year

Share

For the fifth summer, youths 18 or younger will be served free meals by the Anaheim Union High School District.

Barry Sackin, director of food services for the school district, estimated that 1,000 or more lunches will be served daily through the Summer Food Service Program for Children, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“The intent is to have nutritious meals available when children do not have access to them in school,” Sackin said. “For some of the kids, if we weren’t there, they’d be very hungry.”
