Anaheim’s hills played a vital role in the city’s orange-growing industry, which flourished from the late 1800s to the middle of this century.

Because the sloping hills protected citrus orchards from cold weather, some orange growers and processors put down their roots in Anaheim.

Company names were often as colorful as the golden fruit grown in Orange County: Autumn Leaf, Red Breast, Siren, Blue Vase, Caramia and Favorita.
