SIMI VALLEY : Steve Frank Begins Assembly Campaign

Share

Saying that his aim is “to repeal laws, not to make them,” governmental affairs consultant Steve Frank launched his campaign Friday for the Assembly seat representing Simi Valley and Fillmore.

The 48-year-old Republican is vying for a post held by Assemblywoman Paula Boland (R-Granada Hills), who will be forced to step down next year because of legislative term limits. Boland’s 38th Assembly District also includes portions of the northwest San Fernando Valley.

If elected, Frank said he would fight to shrink government and taxes. He promised to introduce a bill to return the Legislature to a part-time governmental body.

“As a conservative, I believe in life, liberty and limited government,” Frank said.

At a news conference at his Simi Valley home, Frank showed reporters how he plans to use the Internet, a worldwide computer network, to communicate directly with voters in the Assembly district. Frank said he will use a personal “home page,” accessible to all Internet users, to provide campaign information to voters.

“Many people have complained about the high cost of political campaigns,” Frank said. “One way to bring down the cost is to campaign directly with voters. That is why I plan to use the Internet extensively, besides precinct walking.”

Other Republican candidates in the Assembly race includes Bob Larkin, chairman of the Ventura County Republican Central Committee; Peggy Freeman, a former director of a health and social service center; Ross Hopkins, a governmental affairs consultant; Robert C. Hamlin, a retired sheriff’s deputy, and Scott Wilk, Boland’s chief of staff.
