John C. Crump, a Ventura native and longtime insurance agent, died Thursday at his home. He was 74.
Crump was born in Ventura in 1920 and graduated from Ventura College. He was a 50-year member of the San Buenaventura Lodge 214. He was also a member of the Ventura Shrine Club, Valley of the Ventura Scottish Rite, Al Malaikah Shrine--Los Angeles Temple
In 1991, he was elected a life member of the Protective Order of the Elks, Ventura Lodge 1430, where he was a member since 1957. He was also a charter member of the East Ventura Lions Club and served as its president in 1955 and 1956.
He served in the Navy during the World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three sons, Leonard Crump of Redding, Roger Crump of Santa Paula and Richard Crump of Ventura; a daughter, Janet Crump of Redding; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Elk Lodge members will officiate. He will be buried in Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura.
