After five years of handling finances for Santa Paula Union High School, Tahir Ahad has resigned to accept a job in Los Angeles County.
Ahad, who holds the title of assistant superintendent for business and personnel services for the high school, is expected to join the ABC Unified School District on July 1. His new title will be assistant superintendent for business and operations.
“I have mixed feelings about leaving,” Ahad said. “I’m sad, but at the same time I’m excited because this new job will offer me a chance to grow professionally.”
At the ABC school district, which serves about 26,000 students in Cerritos, Artesia and parts of Long Beach and Norwalk, Ahad will manage a $103-million annual budget, he said.
Since he took over the Santa Paula High School’s finances in 1990, Ahad has managed an annual budget of $5 million for a district serving about 1,200 students, he said.
Ahad said his last day in Santa Paula will be June 30, and that he plans to commute from his home in Thousand Oaks to the ABC school district’s office in Cerritos.
Meanwhile, the high school is accepting applications for candidates to replace Ahad. The deadline to apply is July 14, Ahad said.
