Organizers of the 1995 Ventura County Fair on Tuesday announced their entertainment lineup for the summer festival, an all-star menu of classic rock, rap, and country and Western artists.

“It looks like a fun lineup,” said Teri Raley, spokeswoman for the fair.

Headlining the main stage on Aug. 16 is Tom Jones, a veteran of more than 30 years whose record once was banned in the United Kingdom.

Motown icon Smokey Robinson will play Aug. 23, with other concerts to be performed by the Drifters, Queen Latifah, Starship, Iron Butterfly, and Jack Mack & the Heart Attack.

“This is a very strong lineup, and it gets stronger every year,” Raley said.

The annual event also will feature stock-car and midget-car racing, animal and plant exhibits, an array of arts and crafts and dozens of food booths. Live entertainment will be performed throughout each of the 12 days on four stages throughout the fairgrounds.

The Ventura County Fair will open Aug. 16 and run until Aug. 27. Admission for ages 13 to 54 is $6 per person, with juniors and seniors $3 each.
