At UC Irvine’s 30th commencement Saturday, the university awarded 3,853 degrees to graduating students.
That was eight fewer than the 3,861 degrees awarded during last school year’s graduation ceremonies.
Graduates received 3,137 bachelor’s, 535 master’s and 181 doctorate degrees at six ceremonies.
That was 47 additional bachelor’s degrees, 64 fewer master’s degrees and nine additional doctorate degrees.
The UCI School of Medicine awarded 90 M.D. degrees--five more than the year before.
Today
Those who taste the wine at the South Coast Plaza Food & Wine Festival will be helping the homeless.
Proceeds will benefit the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen and the Food Distribution Center of Orange County.
More than 30 restaurants, as well as Southland breweries and wineries, are offering samples of their products.
The event, which costs $30 per person, will be 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the shopping center in Costa Mesa.
