Central Los Angeles : COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE

The freight elevator would go way over there. The loading dock could be tucked discreetly from view. And, oh yes, the entire complex should be lushly landscaped and easy on the eye.

That’s the kind of talk being bandied about these days around Bandini Boulevard in the City of Commerce, where developers are mulling plans for a park-like $12-million Commerce Center II. (Commerce Center I is at Garfield Avenue and Randolph Street.) Buildings in the new complex will range from 20,000 square feet to 115,000 square feet.

So far, officials say the project has attracted two Los Angeles-based companies--a garment manufacturer and a large food company. The companies’ names were withheld because negotiations are ongoing. Groundbreaking could be this summer if the project is approved by city leaders as expected.
