Blaine Dawson, a retired insurance broker and founder of the Thousand Oaks Junior Chamber, died Tuesday at the age of 65.
Dawson of Thousand Oaks was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on Sept. 3, 1929.
He worked with the Junior Chamber for years, holding positions including president and national director. He also was a charter member of the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club.
“That was just his philosophy, he liked to give back,” said his son, Dennis Dawson of Moorpark.
Dawson is survived by his wife, Helen Dawson, and his sisters, Ramona Pitta and Lorie Bennett. Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law--Dennis and Kathy Dawson of Moorpark, Bob and Denise Dawson of Paso Robles and Gary and Kim Dawson of Thousand Oaks; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary of Westlake Village.
