LAGUNA BEACH : Fund-Raiser to Aid Man Injured in Fall

Share

A fund-raiser Sunday will benefit a man who was seriously injured in December when he fell from an eight-story hotel window.

Marlene Mayer, who has been caring for son Brad Denny from her Laguna Beach home, said he suffered numerous injuries in the fall, including brain damage. He is also now blind.

An aspiring actor, the 27-year-old Denny was working as a model in Bangkok, Thailand, at the time of the accident, Mayer said.

The community has rallied to help pay for Denny’s rehabilitation. Mayer said her son did not have insurance coverage.

Laguna Beach resident Robert Englund, who portrayed Freddy Krueger in the “Nightmare on Elm Street” movies, will be master of ceremonies.

“I feel a certain simpatico for the family because Brad had aspirations as an actor,” Englund said Friday.

A dozen local restaurants will donate food for the event, which will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach, 286 St. Ann’s Drive. Admission is $20.

Donations can also be sent to Friends for Brad, Orange National Bank, 401 Glenneyre, Laguna Beach 92651.
