SMALL FACES: Neil Young, in between “surprise” shows with Pearl Jam, is helping out his main band, Crazy Horse, for its new album, being recorded at Young’s Northern California ranch. Young is also preparing an album of guitar instrumentals recorded for the soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s forthcoming film “Bad Man.” . . .
“Jesus Wept,” the third PM Dawn album, will include a suite featuring versions of Prince’s “1999,” Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” and Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut.” The album, which Dawn’s Prince Be calls “alternative spirituals,” is due Oct. 3. . . .
Former 4 Non Blondes leader Linda Perry recruited Grace Slick to duet on “Knock Me Out,” a song on Perry’s upcoming solo debut, due in early ’96. . . . L7 and Sublime are co-headlining the “Warped Tour,” a combination rock show and skateboarding exhibition that hits the road Aug. 4 in Salt Lake City, with a Sept. 2 L.A. date planned. Venues to be announced soon.
