Harold C. Warner; Thousand Oaks Chef

Longtime Thousand Oaks resident and local chef Harold C. Warner died Friday at home after a lengthy illness. He was 72.

Born in Green Bay, Wis., in 1923, Warner was a World War II veteran and a Big Band-era drummer who enjoyed traveling and entertaining. In 1949, he moved to Los Angeles and took a job as a chef at Dupar’s, serving meals for Hollywood stars at the well-known restaurant at Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street restaurant.

Ten years later, Warner moved his family to Thousand Oaks and transferred to the Dupar’s there. Shortly after, he and his wife, Lorraine, opened their own restaurant: Harold’s House of Omelettes on Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Warner ran the omelet house for 35 years before turning it over to his son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Nancy Warner.

Warner was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Lorraine. He is survived by his fiancee, Fran Hale; his daughter, Aileen, three sons, Harold (Decker) Jr., Robert, and Glen; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary.
