Talks on Hilton Spinoff: Hilton Hotels’ board is scheduled to meet Tuesday to review plans to split its hotel and casino gambling operations into independent companies. The Beverly Hills-based company said in May that it intended to spin off the gambling operations into a separate entity after efforts to sell the entire company apparently failed. While Hilton is better known as a hotelier, the company’s much smaller casino-hotel operations until recently dwarfed the hotels in profit and sales growth. Hilton operates five casino properties in Nevada, a riverboat casino in New Orleans, and interests in gambling complexes in Canada, Australia and Turkey.
