Deputy City Treasurer Marlies Diamond has been appointed by the City Council to take over the job of city treasurer.
Diamond will be responsible for handling city funds and making monthly reports on the funds. She also will continue to manage the water customer service department.
The position pays $61,500 a year.
In addition to Diamond’s appointment, City Manager James L. Armstrong announced that his assistant, Chris Meyer, will head the newly created Administrative Services Department.
Meyer, who was hired as an intern in 1976, now oversees the city’s budget and legal contracts.
His new job will include the same duties and add the responsibilities of managing staff.
His annual salary has yet to be determined but will probably be around $98,500, he said.
Meyer and Diamond both will begin their new jobs July 1.
