Two suspects were arrested Wednesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a 24-year-old man and injured a teen-ager Sunday night in North Hills.

Los Angeles police found Mainor Rivera, 19, the alleged gunman, and Juan Trejo, 23, who witnesses said was driving the car, after tracing the car to a Panorama City address.

Both men, who will be arraigned today, were booked on suspicion of murder.

Police Detective Marshall White said an alert witness jotted down the license plate number of the car as it sped away after Alberto Aceves was fatally shot and his unidentified 14-year-old friend was wounded.

Officers arrested Trejo at his home. Police picked up Rivera an hour later after spotting him in the passenger seat of a car in the area.

White said witnesses identified Rivera, well-known to residents of the area, as the shooter even before investigators traced the license plate.

The shooting resulted from a verbal altercation between the occupants of Trejo’s car and a group standing at the corner of Nordhoff Street and Langdon Avenue, White said.
