After my separation and divorce, I needed to invest money received from my marriage settlement. I saw this settlement as my children’s future, and the most important thing to me was that it be invested well.
As a married partner, I ran several homes, casinos and the Plaza Hotel for Donald. But I did not get involved in the financing and business decision making. The best financial decision I ever made was to hire Alan C. (Ace) Greenberg, head of Bear Stearns, to take care of my investments. He had been Donald’s investment adviser for many years.
Finding an investment adviser that you can trust is very important, as many women make mistakes and lose their money. It has worked out great. I learned that you can’t be too careful; there is a whole world after you!
