Boston Parade

* I was proudly born in the U.S. nearly 74 years ago of parents born in Ireland, who, despite the injustice they were subjected to here, taught me and my brother to accept all of God’s creatures. So I was indeed saddened to read again (June 20) of how the buckos of Boston carried their own fear of homosexuality to the Supreme Court.

If there is one thing I’ve learned in my glorious life, it is that when you are secure in your own sexuality, you have no problem with other people’s orientation. My mother and dad in their day often saw the signs that read “Irish need not apply.” If they ever saw me wave a banner saying the same about gays, it would be the back of their hand to me.
