Pacoima : Paxton St. Off-Ramp on I-5 Slated to Close
Construction to seismically strengthen bridges near the interchange of the Golden State and Simi Valley freeways is scheduled to close a Pacoima off-ramp beginning Wednesday.
The Paxton Street off-ramp of the Golden Street Freeway is slated to shut down Wednesday through Aug. 1 for the retrofit.
Crews from Nationwide-Shimmick Construction Co. have been strengthening the interchange since March as part of a $625,000 retrofitting project. The work includes enlargement and deepening of bridge footings, reinforcement of their abutments and wrapping their support columns with steel casings.
About 134 bridges in Los Angeles and Ventura counties are to be strengthened this year, according to the California Department of Transportation.
