More Prop. 103 Rebate Settlements: Eleven insurance companies have agreed to pay $25.8 million in Proposition 103 rebates, the state Insurance Department announced. The department also ruled that nine other insurers have complied with the 1988 rate rollback initiative and owe no more money. For the insurers that have not yet settled, Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush said the “window of opportunity” has passed and will order hearings on about 90 of those cases. The largest rebate among Monday’s settlements is $15.3 million by the Unitrin Group. The other insurers are Lyndon Group, $3.6 million; Employers Mutual, $2 million; Atlantic Mutual Cos., $1.2 million; American Hardware, $978,000; Michigan Millers, $920,000; Household Finance, $684,000; McMillen Group, $500,000; Florists Mutual, $255,000; Protective Group, $138,000, and the Heritage Group, $65,000.
