2 Israeli Guards Slain at Building Site
Two Israeli security guards were shot to death in Israel near the occupied West Bank on Wednesday in what police said might be an attack by Palestinian guerrillas or criminals.
“We don’t entirely rule out the possibility of this being a terrorist incident, but we are still in the first stages of the investigation,” Israeli Police Commander Assaf Hefetz told Israel Radio.
The two guards, employed by the Israel Electric Co. to watch a construction site, were found dead at the site near Shaar Efraim in Israel just across the border from the West Bank town of Tulkarm.
Israel Radio said the army set up checkpoints along the West Bank border to restrict the entry of thousands of Palestinians to day jobs in Israel.
