Company Locates Bush’s Sunken WWII Airplane

Ferrumar Resources Corp., a company that retrieves sunken objects, said Wednesday that it has located and will recover the airplane flown by former President George Bush when he was shot down over the Pacific Ocean during World War II.

James Egan, president of Ferrumar, said computer analysis has pinpointed Bush’s torpedo bomber to “within a square mile.”

The plane was shot down in 1944 near Japan and Bush was rescued by a U.S. submarine.

Egan said his company would retrieve the plane as part of a project that also involves finding sunken Japanese World War II ships near the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

He said it would be another year before he could salvage the plane.
