THOUSAND OAKS : Orchestra Plans Move to Arts Plaza

Share

The county’s newly merged symphony is preparing to move into Thousand Oaks’ Civic Arts Plaza with a lease agreement on the table for second-floor office space.

The lease term for the New West Symphony would be five years at $1,650 a month with the first three months free. The city has given three free months to all its new tenants, which include Caltrans, Supervisor Frank Schillo and the IMS Credit Union.

New West would occupy 1,320 square feet next to Schillo’s office and one flight down from the Charles E. Probst Performing Arts Center, where it will perform many concerts this season.

The Conejo Symphony, which merged with the Ventura Symphony to form New West, performed at the Arts Center last year and had been operating rent free in an extra room in the law offices of Cohen, Alexander & Clayton.

New West officials have said the merger provided the resources to pay for a new, centrally located office.
