Founders of an organization that touts itself as an athletic training club were arrested Thursday for allegedly engaging in group sex acts with a 13-year-old girl, police said.

The three suspects, all affiliated with Pentathlon International Corps, were arrested late Thursday on suspicion of child molesting and child endangerment, Police Lt. Bob Helton said.

Jesse Moreno Huerta, 36, described as commander of the organization, his 29-year-old wife, Edith, and Jose Garcia, 29, all of Santa Ana, were held on $50,000 bail each, Helton said. They remained in police custody on Friday.

The organization officials arrived in Santa Ana from Mexico about a year ago to find and train members for sporting events and competitions, authorities said.

But Helton said police are not aware if any of the members were trained for competition.

“At this time, we are not aware if that ever took place,” Helton said. “All we know is that it involves some kind of physical fitness.”

Jesse Huerta promoted his group by claiming it was an offshoot of a well-respected and legitimate athletic training program in Mexico called Pentathlon Deportivo Militar Universitario, Helton said. Police said Huerta has no ties with the Mexican athletic group.

Helton said the group apparently had up to 200 members, who ranged from ages 6 to 45. Authorities believe the membership has dropped to almost 40 for undetermined reasons.

In June, police began investigating the molestation allegations after callers reported that group sex was taking place.

Helton said evidence shows the suspects took the girl to a motel in Costa Mesa, where the alleged sex acts occurred.

Police also believe that a second incident occurred earlier this year involving the same 13-year-old victim and at least one of the suspects, police said.

Investigators are seeking other possible victims and suspects, Helton said.

The Pentathlon International Corps is located at a house in the 1400 block of South Baker Street.

A woman who answered the telephone there Friday refused to answer questions and only would describe the organization as a youth group.
