Four World Records Broken by Quarter Horses This Year

AMARILLO, Tex. — Pies Royal Request’s 14th consecutive victory made him the fourth quarter horse this year to set a world record, the American Quarter Horse Assn. said Wednesday.
Pies Royal Request, a 4-year-old gelding, won a 330-yard race at Arizona’s Prescott Downs on July 9 in a record 16.43 seconds.
Maquiavelo lowered the 350-yard world record time to 17.07 on March 26 at the Hipodromo de las Americas track in Mexico City.
The Prize ran 300 yards in a world-record 15.06 seconds at the Hipodromo on May 28, and Tuxer, a 5-year-old, broke the 550-yard record time, winning at Rillito Park in Arizona on Feb. 5, in 26.33 seconds.
