Pacoima : Free Lead-Testing of Items Is Offered
In conjunction with Lead Poison Control Week, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services will conduct free lead-testing of dishes, pottery, painted toys and other items today in Pacoima.
Lead is a contaminant that, in large enough amounts, can cause neurological damage to young children and could result in impaired growth, lowered intelligence, hearing loss, learning disabilities and behavioral problems, county officials said.
Testing will be conducted from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Japanese American Community Center, 12953 Branford St., Pacoima. For more information, call (800) 524-5323 or (818) 899-1989.
