VENTURA : Arraignment of Court Clerk Delayed
Prosecutors on Thursday were granted a delay in arraigning a court clerk charged with stealing cash from a courthouse evidence vault until a complete audit is completed.
Fernando Tirado, 32, of Oxnard is charged with embezzling more than $10,000 over a three-year period. He was a nine-year employee of the Municipal and Superior courts.
Lawyers for both sides also need more time to determine how Tirado’s case will be judged. Because he worked closely with all the Ventura County judges, an outside or retired judge will have to be hired to handle the case, Deputy Dist. Atty. Matthew J. Hardy III said.
His arraignment was set for Aug. 21.
