Hurt Lingers Despite Doctor’s Exoneration

I was pleased that The Times did publish a prominently displayed article about Dr. H. Brian Herdeg’s exoneration of all charges against him (July 9.)

Reporting the accusations of an anonymous patient in the Valley edition last Oct. 7 was unfortunate and, in my opinion, irresponsible because of the possible damage to Dr. Herdeg’s unblemished reputation as both physician and civic contributor.

I hope that everyone who read--or heard from others--the damaging first article is now aware that he was falsely accused. We will never know for sure, and therein lies a lingering hurt.
