Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr interviewed President Clinton and his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, under oath at the White House on Saturday, spending more than three hours questioning the President.

It was the second time in three months that the Clintons have been questioned by Starr as part of the Whitewater investigation.

“It was a very good and professional atmosphere,” said Deputy White House Counsel Jane Sherburne of the separate interviews, which were held in the President’s study in the private residence on the top floor of the White House.

Sherburne, who attended the interviews along with White House Counsel Abner Mikva and two lawyers hired by the Clintons, said the President was questioned for about 3 1/2 hours and that Hillary Clinton was interviewed for two hours.
