An oil tank exploded Thursday morning in the Upper Ojai after static electricity ignited fumes inside the container, county fire officials said. There were no injuries.
The 9:30 a.m. fire, which was on property owned by Hamp Oil Lease Co. off California 150 near Thomas Aquinas College, was contained to the tank and put out at 10:20 a.m.
Officials could not say why there was a static electric charge inside the tank.
