LA HABRA : Child Center Named for Late Activist
The city’s child development center has been renamed in memory of Claire Brown, an activist who lobbied City Hall for years to start child-care programs.
Brown, who died in February, 1994, “was involved in many things, but what most concerned her were the children,” said Marian Schain, a friend and colleague.
Brown’s face was familiar at La Habra council meetings, said longtime councilman James Flora. “Anyone who has been involved with this community knows Claire Brown. . . . She did an awful lot for our city.”
A dedication date for the Claire Brown Child Development center will be set later this year.
