A bicyclist from Port Hueneme was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident after being struck by several cars on Harbor Boulevard near McGrath State Beach.

Keith David Campbell, 34, was pedaling north in a traffic lane near Gonzales Road when he was hit from behind by a car about 2:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The car carried Campbell, identified by authorities as a transient, about 600 feet before he fell off the vehicle and landed in the southbound lane. The car did not stop after the collision, authorities said.

Two other cars struck Campbell but did not stop, officers reported. A fourth motorist, 19-year-old Christopher Johnson of Oxnard, notified authorities after hitting Campbell.

The CHP said Campbell was struck by a Ford Mustang, a 1985 Mercedes-Benz and a Chevrolet truck. Officials said they are searching for the drivers.

“The cause of death is multiple blunt injuries,” said Ventura County Senior Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene, Stevens said.
