Sherman Oaks : Parents Plan Rally for Assistant Principal

Share

Parents lobbying school district officials to promote a Millikan Middle School administrator into the school’s vacant principal post plan to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday on campus to show their support for him.

Backers of Assistant Principal Norm Isaacs, 51, say he has been overlooked during his 11 years at the 1,500-student campus, which has had four principals in the past six years. They said they are frustrated by frequent administrative changes and that Isaacs, who lives in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood, would provide the school with consistent leadership.

Since Principal Gladi Adams retired in 1989, three other principals have served less than 18 months each. Two also retired and the other was promoted to a district post.

District officials have called an in-school promotion unlikely, saying they are reluctant to keep an administrator at one school for an extended period and that other candidates also are eligible for the post of principal.

Millikan Middle School is at 5041 Sunnyslope Ave.
