Martin Lee Medina, a 10-year Ventura resident and father of three, died July 29 of injuries received in a car accident on California 126. He was 33.

Medina worked as a route salesman for Mission Linen of North Hollywood. He moved to Ventura in 1985 from King City, Calif., where he attended King City High School. Medina married his wife, Carol, in 1987.

Medina’s sister, Julia Slamkowski, said her brother was an avid sports fan and athlete who loved to play with his children. He coached youth soccer in King City and a youth T-ball team in Ventura. Slamkowski said her brother was such a big San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan that he named his 4-year-old twins after baseball players.

“William is named after Will Clark, and Brett is named after Brett Butler,” she said.

Medina also loved gardening and fishing.

In addition to Slamkowski, Medina is survived by his wife, Carol; his parents, Arthur and Josephine Medina, of King City; his sister, Geraldine, of King City; his brothers, Joseph Medina of Ventura and Rocky Medina of Phoenix, and his children, William, Brett and Alura.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives may send donations to a trust fund being established for Medina’s children.
