LAGUNA HILLS : Carew to Address Benefit Luncheon
Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew will speak at a luncheon Wednesday to benefit the South Orange County Child Abuse Services Team.
The volunteer program, which provides children with crisis intervention counseling, is due to be closed this month because of the budget cuts resulting from Orange County’s bankruptcy, said Andrew Schwartz, a clinical psychologist and team volunteer.
The organization must raise $80,000 to continue to operate through this year and another $100,000 for next year, he said.
The luncheon, which costs $30 for adults and $15 for children, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 25205 E. La Paz Road. Information: (714) 768-4860.
