A Camarillo woman narrowly escaped death in New Hampshire on Wednesday when the car she was driving was hit by a tractor-trailer, causing a fire that killed the car’s four passengers, authorities said.
Kate Waunch, 47, of Camarillo was pulled from the white Plymouth sedan by a passing motorist, New Hampshire State Police said.
Authorities did not identify the four passengers who died, but the Associated Press reported that they were members of Waunch’s family. It was unclear whether they were from California.
Four Massachusetts residents traveling in a third vehicle were also injured in the crash.
The accident, in Londonderry, N.H., closed northbound Interstate 93, a main north-south route through New England.
