Gold Express Communications Inc.: The Irvine telecommunications company said Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of Phoenix Environmental Services Inc., a privately held company in Atlanta. Under terms of the $12-million agreement, Gold Express will exchange 7.5 million restricted shares of common stock to acquire Phoenix, whose revenue is expected to surpass $7.2 million in fiscal 1996. Phoenix locates and maps subsurface utility engineering power for utilities and communications lines. Richard Scruggs, founder and chief executive of Phoenix, will join the Irvine company’s board of directors.
