Valleywide : Churches Present Concerts of Note

Three Valley-area churches are holding special musical programs in coming days.

The Pops Chorale at the Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church will perform a tribute to baseball in an old-time radio format Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Joe Moeller, who pitched with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 1960s, will be a special guest. Ballpark-style snacks will be available during the program, which is under the direction of John T. Dennison.

Emmanuel Lutheran Actors’ Theatre Ensemble will present vocalist Jeff Thorsen in three concerts next weekend at the outdoor quad of Laurel Hall School, 11919 Oxnard St., North Hollywood.

Thorsen, along with nine other singers and musicians, will perform show tunes, pop, gospel and folk music at 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. next Saturday and 7 p.m. on Aug. 13. Tickets range from $3 to $5. For further information, call (818) 509-0882.
