WATTS : Armstead to Head Health Foundation

Share

A health administrator with the Clinton Administration has been picked as the next chief health officer of the Watts Health Foundation.

Dr. Rodney Armstead is also expected to start Aug. 14 as the executive vice president of the 29-year-old organization, which coordinates 26 community health organizations and serves more than 100,000 patients each year.

Armstead will finish his last week as director for the Office of Managed Care at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. During his term, the Arizona physician helped develop a business plan for a public- and private-sector alliance to improve the quality of care at health maintenance organizations.

Armstead said he wants to use his new position “to demonstrate to the skeptics in this nation how quality health care can be delivered in managed care settings with a particular focus on [low-income seniors and children].”
