OJAI : 2nd Bank Robbed Within a Week

Share

For the second time in a week, a lone robber has made off with an undisclosed amount of money from an Ojai bank, but FBI officials say the two incidents are unrelated.

At 11:26 a.m. Saturday a man robbed Home Savings of America’s Ojai branch at 110 S. Ventura St., Ventura County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

The robber did not show a gun but warned a teller in a note that he had one, FBI officials said. He was alone and fled the area on foot.

No one was injured during the robbery and officials were uncertain how much money was taken. The holdup came just six days after another robbery in the small town, which has only about half a dozen banks.

Monday a robber wearing a long gray wig left Ojai Valley Bank on Maricopa Highway with an undisclosed amount of cash. FBI officials said the robberies were different and not committed by the same person.

“We do know that they are not related,” FBI Special Agent Gary Auer said.
