Vietnamese Embassy Opening Low-Key

WASHINGTON —
Vietnam raised its red and yellow flag over its new embassy in Washington for the first time Saturday as Secretary of State Warren Christopher paid a historic visit to Hanoi.
A small group demonstrated outside the dignified building near Washington’s Embassy Row in protest against Vietnam’s human rights record.
A simple sign reading “Embassy of Vietnam” went up at the building Saturday, but there was no formal public ceremony and the telephone number was not listed yet.
