Pet Peeve

“A Pooch in Paradise” (Hawaii Special Edition, June 11) by Jeanne Apostol, wife of a State Department official, is an amusing report on pet quarantine in Hawaii. But I won’t be amused until I learn whether my taxes paid for the five-day layover and the dog’s transportation on her husband’s assignment to Seoul.

Jeanne Apostol may not realize some of us are very allergic to dog hair, doggy smells and the occasional flea that may be left behind. Hotels that ban pets do not change the blankets, bedspreads and carpets after each rental so there is quite a bit of dog residue left. Please, Jeanne, please use the hotels that allow pets.
