False Arrest Case

Share

Your July 31 article regarding Serena Sutherland, who was falsely arrested, really irritated me, being Afro American. I, as well as every friend I have, have been stopped many times, with the officers using their standard line, “You match the description of a robbery suspect. That is why you were pulled over”.

I have never received an apology, my friends have not, nor in any high-profile cases have I ever heard a police department make a public apology. Why does white America become so sensitized and offended only when things like this happen to them? Where are the apologies or judicial justice for the countless people who do not have the resources to take their case to court as this lady in Goleta did? We as Afro Americans just want a level playing field and to be treated as Americans, with the same courtesy and privileges afforded this lady in Goleta.
