TUSTIN : Trash Rates Rise 10% to Offset Landfill Fee

Residents will pay $1.14 a month more for trash collection because of higher charges at Orange County landfills, officials said.
The City Council reluctantly approved the additional fees at its Monday meeting.
“I’m not happy about doing this,” Councilman Jeffery M. Thomas said. “Passing this through to the residents is not on my agenda. But our hands are tied.”
County officials recently raised the gate fee charges at the county landfills from $22 to $35, Tustin Finance Director Ron Nault said.
The extra charges to residents--a 10% increase--will offset the extra fees, he said.
The current rate is $11.11 a month.
