San Fernando : Help Sought to Build Patio at Youth House
Volunteers are needed to help improve the Youth House at San Fernando’s Recreation Park by installing a concrete patio.
The stone structure is used by about 165 children who attend the city’s Recreation and Community Services Day Camp. Built more than 50 years ago, the building is one of the park’s original structures.
Officials said installation of a patio will eliminate the need for visitors to track through mud that is often in the area. Rueff Automotive of San Fernando will donate materials and labor for the refurbishment, scheduled for Aug. 19.
However, organizers also are looking for volunteers, said Virginia Ufano, human services supervisor for the San Fernando Recreation and Community Services Department.
The daylong effort will include a barbecue for workers and games for children, Ufano said.
