BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Infield Has a New Look

With shortstop Gary DiSarcina out for the rest of the regular season and third baseman Tony Phillips serving a three-game suspension, first baseman J.T. Snow hardly recognized the Angel infield Thursday.

“I looked around and Damion [Easley] wasn’t to my right,” Snow said. “DiSarcina wasn’t at short, and Tony wasn’t at third. I’m the Lone Ranger out there.”

Phillips will return tonight. Easley, who moved from second base to shortstop to replace DiSarcina, and new second baseman Jose Lind will probably form the middle of the infield for the rest of the season.

Easley anticipated no trouble adjusting, either to his new position or to Lind.

“I’m feeling comfortable in all facets of the game,” Easley said. “I just have to get to know [Lind] and know how he works. It’s probably the same for him.”

Despite committing a sixth-inning throwing error that allowed two runs to score, Easley will be a fixture at shortstop, Manager Marcel Lachemann said.
