SMALL FACES: Taking a brief detour from the ongoing Van Halen tour, Sammy Hagar went into a New York studio with Meat Loaf to put some guitar and background vocals on “Amnesty Is Granted,” a song Hagar wrote for Mr. Loaf’s next album, due in November. . . . As soon as it finishes up the Lollapalooza second-stage duty this week, L.A. rap group the Pharcyde will put the final touches on its second album, due in October. . . . The Cocteau Twins will preview a new album, due early next year, with two EPs. The first, “Twinlights,” due in October, will feature two acoustic versions of songs that will be on the album, while a disc of dance remixes will be out in November. . . .

Peter Gabriel and World Party’s Karl Wallinger are producing an album from sessions held during the recent annual “Recording Week” at Gabriel’s Real World complex in England. Among the combinations: ethnic-ambient group Deep Forest with guitarist Vernon Reid and Gabriel with Hungarian singer Marta Sebestyen. Non-performing kibitzers at the event, which also featured sessions for the soundtrack to “Fierce Creatures” (the sequel to “A Fish Called Wanda”), included Iggy Pop and Johnny Depp. . . .

Erasure has a new single, “Stay With Me,” due Sept. 11, followed by an album, “Erasure,” in October. A tour is in the discussion stage.
